Dear Doug,
I have a problem.   I know that you usually take e-mails from people with relationship problems.   Well, my problem is about a relationship, but it’s a little deeper.   I was married to my husband for 9 years and for the most part it was good.   We got beautiful boy out of our union.   We have been divorced for 2 years and it has been amicable.   Recently my ex-husband, James met and married a woman within a four month period and he has changed who he is.   All of a sudden, he spends money like there is no tomorrow, he is working out like he is a seventeen year old kid and he now parties (including drinking).   His behavior has become erratic.    Two weeks ago my son came home bragging that his daddy showed him his new gun.   New gun!   Now I have known this man since we were in college and he has never shown interest in seeing a gun no less owning one.   I can not believe that this man will have a gun in the house with our 11 year old son.   When I confronted him with this, he blew me off saying that he hunts now.   Hunts what?   He knows nothing about hunting.   He finished off by saying that he had to protect his family.   I am so mad; I don’t know what to do.   I do not want my pre-teen around a gun.   I wish we could make gun ownership illegal.     Doug, am I wrong?   Am I over exaggerating or is this a big deal?   Do you realize how many untimely deaths occur because of guns?   What should I do?

 I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong, In fact I admit that I married the WRONG woman and in order to make it right I've resolved to do the following......Leave...

 I have to admit that I was wrong...I was married to this wonderful person that I didn't treat too well.  I was young and didn't realize what I had until after I divorced him.  Now 6 years later, I am regretting my actions and want him to know that I am TRULY SORRY and ask for his forgiveness.  This has been eating me up EVERYDAY.  I believe he is married or in a serious relationship and I can't find a way to let him know this face-to-face.

I think you have to be very careful when you admit you are wrong or at fault, in matters of the heart, as in a ralationship admitting you are wrong could save that relationship, or end it. In other critical situations in life you get yourself into, admitting fault could cost you your money, your freedom, your job, and in some instances, your life. I think you first must say to yourself, what is going to be the consequences of me admitting Iam wrong in this specific situation before you commit to accountability.

My boyfriend a& I are going through this now.  I do everything a wife should do.   He "is not ready' after 4 years.  I can;t give him any more of me.  Now I ready to call it quits.  He wants more time (2009) to commit.  I feel I'm be strung along.  If you love me, show me and tell the world I belong to you.  Tell me that I am your one and only, by commiting and placing a ring on my finger.

This conversation today has me really questioning too.  I was with my ex for nine......yes NINE years.  He proposed, and then said (and I quote) "ok, now you have your ring, I don't want to talk about marriage anymore".  At that point I knew without a doubt that he never had any intention of marring me.  What bothered me the most was the why not?  I cooked, I cleaned, I made a home for us, and not because I felt like I had to, but because I wanted to.  I really thought he was the one for me, and I was happy to those things.  Meanwhile to him I was just some chick, cause we never married.  The kicker is, I got myself together one day and I decided ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, and I left.  He was so shocked he didn't know what to do.  He kept crawling back, asking me to come home.  I finally had to tell him "I am home!"  Now here is the REAL kicker.......he married some chick he barley knew, he told me he doesn't even love the chick, and now they have a baby

I been playing house for 18 years Im tired now I am ready to settle down I think he is scared but I gave him till 9/26/08 to make a decision he still havent made a decision neither nor he came to me to even talk about it my patients has run short we have 3 kids 20 yr old,15 yrs old, and a 6 year old we also have a house we bought 3 yrs ago I am goin to move on dont get me wrong I love him to death but i cant do this anymore and I know he is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with im wondering if he feels the same way my question to you is should I leave or should I hang in there and see whats in store for the future with him

As long as 2 people want eatchother they can work through just about anything  but that's the key. They have to want eachother . And if they are inlove and want eachother commiting wont be an issue

First of all this problem isnt just for men..... i'm tired of people having that stereotype that men can't committ the problem is women get with the wrong type of men and expect them to committ after they have committed 20 crimes in 19 states if you get my drift ....chivalry and being a gentlemen isnt what women are attracted to......i'm a good man and i'm ready to committ to the right woman....WILL.

Part of the problem is couples spend more time planning the ceremony than they do planning their futures!!
